Contoured Shoulder Pillow By South Bay

I've had shoulder impingement for two years and my orthopedic specialist identified my pillow as part of the problem. Standard pillows push the shoulder upward creating compression. The contoured cutout lets the shoulder rest naturally and eliminates the impingement pressure. Two weeks on the South Bay pillow and the nighttime shoulder pain is essentially gone.

The contour cutout for the shoulder is the feature every side sleeper needs and almost no pillow offers. It lets my shoulder sit in the cutout so my neck stays neutral without my shoulder being compressed upward. Three weeks in and the neck soreness I'd had for years is gone. South Bay understood the biomechanics of side sleeping and built the solution.

My PT told me I needed a shoulder-contoured pillow for my rotator cuff recovery. I tried three different options before the South Bay Contoured Shoulder Pillow. The cutout depth and foam density are better calibrated here than any alternative I found. Six weeks post-surgery and my PT is pleased with my recovery positioning. This pillow is part of my rehab.

I've accepted morning neck stiffness as normal for so long I forgot what it felt like to wake up without it. Three days on the Contoured Shoulder Pillow and the stiffness was gone. The shoulder cutout keeps my neck in a neutral position that standard pillows never achieved. Small product making a big quality-of-life difference every morning.

The shoulder contour is well-designed and the neck support is excellent. My issue is heat retention. The foam holds warmth and there's no cooling element in this pillow. For cooler sleepers this is a non-issue. I run warm and I notice it by the middle of the night. The therapeutic benefit is real - neck and shoulder alignment are genuinely improved. Just wish it had a cooling layer.
